Females leave their babies in a hiding place while they forage; the fawns lay on the ground well camouflaged against the ground. Fawns withhold their feces and urine until the mother arrives. She eats these feces to make sure that predators cannot detect the den with the babies.

At the age of 10 weeks the fawns are weaned completely. Maximum lifespan for these creatures is 20 years, but the majority of them live 3-4 years due to hunting and predation.
